Ski trips can get expensive fast — lift tickets, lodging, flights, rental cars, equipment and food can add up to thousands of dollars.

But this is exactly where points and miles can make a huge difference.

If you have an Epic Pass, you've already taken care of one of the biggest expenses: skiing. Pair that with World of Hyatt points for your hotel, and suddenly an expensive ski vacation can become a lot more affordable.

Below are some of the best Epic Pass resorts to consider if you also have Hyatt points.

Simply Points Tip

World of Hyatt is a Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner, so you can transfer Chase points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio. See our step-by-step transfer walkthrough.

Hyatt Hotels near Epic Pass Resorts

Colorado

Vail

Grand Hyatt Vail Resort and Spa

This is one of the best Epic Pass + Hyatt combinations anywhere.

Grand Hyatt Vail sits at the base of Vail Mountain along Gore Creek and provides extremely convenient access to the mountain.

Why we like it: Combine your Epic Pass with Hyatt points for an incredible Vail ski vacation without paying the often very high cash rates for both lift tickets and lodging.

Check Grand Hyatt Vail

Beaver Creek

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa

This may be the ultimate Epic Pass + Hyatt points combination.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is located directly at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain and is a true ski-in/ski-out property.

Why we like it: This is exactly the type of hotel where Hyatt points can be incredibly valuable. Ski-season cash rates at luxury mountain resorts can be extremely high. Use your Epic Pass for the mountain and Hyatt points for the hotel.

Check Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Breckenridge

Breckenridge is one of the most popular Epic Pass destinations, but there isn't currently a Hyatt property that we'd consider a compelling Hyatt-points option directly at the mountain.

For Breckenridge, we'd compare cash lodging and other hotel programs rather than using Hyatt points simply for the sake of using them. Visit VRBO

Remember: points aren't always the best option.

Keystone

Hyatt Place Keystone/Dillon

Located in Keystone, Colorado, this hotel is within walking distance of a picturesque ski resort area offering 3,000 acres of easy-to-expert ski terrain on three epic peaks, five above-tree-line bowls, night skiing, an in-bounds KAT skiing program, and more.

Check Hyatt Place Keystone/Dillon

Crested Butte

Hyatt's footprint around Crested Butte is limited.

This is another Epic destination where we'd look at other lodging options rather than trying to force a Hyatt redemption. Visit VRBO

Utah

Park City

Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Grand Hyatt Deer Valley gives World of Hyatt members a luxury points option in the greater Park City area.

There is also a Hyatt Place and a Hyatt Centric close by in Park City.

Important: Deer Valley itself is not an Epic Pass resort. Your Epic Pass provides access to Park City Mountain, so you'll need transportation between the hotel and Park City Mountain.

Still, if you have a large Hyatt balance and want a luxury hotel in the Park City area, this is worth checking.

California / Lake Tahoe

Northstar California

Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar Lodge

This is another standout Epic Pass + Hyatt combination. Northstar Lodge is a ski-in/ski-out resort with direct access to the Highlands Gondola at Northstar California.

Why we like it: This is exactly what we're looking for — Epic Pass skiing combined with a Hyatt property right at the mountain.

The residential-style villas can also be especially appealing for families.

Check Northstar Lodge

Heavenly

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe is located in Incline Village on North Lake Tahoe, while Heavenly is in South Lake Tahoe. So while it's a beautiful Hyatt resort, we wouldn't choose it specifically for skiing Heavenly.

If you're planning a larger Lake Tahoe trip and visiting several areas around the lake, it may still be worth considering.

Check Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe

Kirkwood

There isn't a Hyatt property we'd recommend as a particularly convenient base for Kirkwood.

And this is an important reminder when using hotel points for ski trips:

Don't choose a hotel just because you can book it with points.

Mountain roads, snow and winter traffic can turn what looks like a reasonable drive on a map into a major inconvenience.

East Coast Epic Resorts

Epic Pass also includes numerous resorts throughout the East, including destinations in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania.

Hyatt's footprint directly around many of these mountains is limited.

Instead of listing a Hyatt that's an hour or more away simply because it exists, we'd compare:

Sometimes paying $150 for a hotel near the mountain is a much better decision than using 15,000 or 20,000 hotel points for a property much farther away. View our Redemption Value Calculator here to compare cash vs. points.

Our Favorite Epic Pass + Hyatt Combinations

If we were looking to maximize both an Epic Pass and World of Hyatt points, we'd start with these:

Vail + Grand Hyatt Vail

Epic Pass: Vail Mountain
Hyatt: Grand Hyatt Vail Resort and Spa

Excellent mountain access + an expensive ski destination where Hyatt points could potentially save you significant money.

Beaver Creek + Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Epic Pass: Beaver Creek
Hyatt: Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa

This may be our favorite combination. A luxury ski-in/ski-out Hyatt at an Epic Pass mountain is exactly what we're looking for.

Northstar + Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar Lodge

Epic Pass: Northstar California
Hyatt: Hyatt Vacation Club at Northstar Lodge

Ski-in/ski-out access, direct access to the Highlands Gondola and residential-style accommodations make this especially interesting for families.

Park City + Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Epic Pass: Park City Mountain
Hyatt: Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Not slopeside for your Epic skiing, but a luxury Hyatt option in the Park City area that's worth checking if you have Hyatt points.

Have Chase Points?

This is where the strategy gets even better.

World of Hyatt is a 1:1 Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partner.

That means you don't necessarily need to earn Hyatt points by staying at Hyatt hotels. Eligible Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to your World of Hyatt account.

Just remember one of our most important rules:

Never transfer your Chase points to Hyatt until you've found the hotel you want and confirmed that award availability exists.

Transfers are generally irreversible.

See our full Chase → Hyatt transfer walkthrough.

The Simply Points Travel™ Strategy

A ski vacation can potentially look like this:

  • Epic Pass → skiing covered
  • World of Hyatt points → hotel covered
  • Airline miles → flights covered

Then you're primarily paying for things like food, equipment rentals and transportation.

That's exactly why we love points and miles. Instead of asking, "Can we afford a $5,000 ski vacation?" we start asking: "How much of this trip can we cover with points?"
